Why Is Massage Important?
Understanding the Benefits and Limitations of Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a powerful tool for reducing pain, enhancing range of motion, and treating a variety of chronic conditions. It works by loosening soft tissue and alleviating active trigger points, which eases the tension in joints, allowing them to move more freely. This therapy is especially effective for conditions such as Tennis and Golfer’s elbow, ITB Syndrome, Carpal Tunnel, and others, making it a versatile treatment option for various ailments.
Chronic pain develops over time and typically cannot be resolved with a single massage session, particularly for individuals engaged in repetitive work activities. Regular massage sessions are crucial for managing chronic pain effectively, improving overall mobility, and maintaining long-term health and wellness. Establishing a routine of consistent massage therapy can yield significant benefits, helping to keep chronic conditions at bay and enhance quality of life.

Google Reviews and Testimonials

Below are some of our most asked questions. Feel free to ask anything else.
-
What should I expect during my first massage visit?
Everyone starts off with a brief intake of their health and background. Afterwards, I will begin by asking you general questions to establish what areas you would like worked on. If there are any conditions needing to be addressed, it will determine if a massage is appropriate for you. I may perform certain assessments and testing to evaluate your condition and to see if you have any presenting complaints.
It is important to list all health concerns and medications so I may adapt the session to your specific needs without harm. It is also important to list any allergies so that I am aware if I need to use a different oil or lotion during the session.
-
Will my massage hurt?
This depends on the type of massage and depth of the strokes. A light, relaxing massage that doesn’t probe very deep into the muscles shouldn’t hurt. With that being said, there is a “feels good” hurt and an “ouch, stop it” hurt. A good massage, even a really deep tissue one should always stay in the “feels good” hurt range. You should always let me know if you are experiencing pain beyond that of the normal level.
-
Can I talk during my massage?
Sure, if you like go right ahead. The important thing to remember is that this treatment is all about you relaxing and enjoying the experience. Many therapists discourage talking in hopes that you will relax and let your mind float free and enter a state of massage bliss. In many instances, people may feel more relaxed staring off talking and as the massage progresses, enter quiet states of relaxation.
-
How many sessions will I need?
Honestly, everyone is different, and everyone has a unique condition that might be different from someone else. It may take one session, or it may take several. You and I will be able to talk more specifically about this after your first session and have had the chance to evaluate your body’s tissues.
-
What types of payment do you accept?
Currently I accept checks, cash, Square and Venmo.
-
How will I feel after?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.
